So are you saying that redirection in a template doesn’t work? If it does work, then why change it to something else if it’s not a better way of doing it?

if you put a redir in a template, you will see the word REDIRECT on all pages the template is included but nothing is redirected. What you call transclusion is a usual part of the template stuff I suppose. Many templates contain other templates.

Actually that is not quite true #redirect [[template:fir]] works, but not # redirect {{fir}} and the latter is what was used
