re:Irish Wiktionary: page template
Hi Moilleadóir, thanks a lot for the suggestions, I have changed it on my userpage now, please feel free to correct the copy&paste section I use if there is still something that should be changed :) Thank You for Your help, best regards, --éan (:> )=| 10:43, 3 Feabhra 2008 (UTC)
- P.S. I have a question: I could not sort it out how the translations are ordered, alphabetically by language code or by language name, or completely different? Thanks again, --éan (:> )=| 10:46, 3 Feabhra 2008 (UTC)
- Translations are (should be) sorted alphabetically by their Irish name, with the Celtic languages coming first in their own section. ☸ Moilleadóir 08:24, 4 Feabhra 2008 (UTC)☏
Language codes
There is a bit of a problem with template names like -alt-, because the three letter code alt stands for a language (Southern Altai) in the ISO 639-3 system. The french found a simple solution for this. They simply made all the language templates with =xxx= instead of -xxx-. Another possiblity is to reserve three letter -xxx- for languages and make the other ones four letter or so. Jcwf 03:42, 4 Feabhra 2008 (UTC)
- When I first started looking at the templates I thought about changing to =xxx= but I think there might be some problems with template names starting with =. E.g. the tlx template doesn’t seem to like them: {{[[Teimpléad:|{{{1}}}]]}}.
- At this stage I think we have two options
- Get a bot to change over all language headings to =xxx=
- Create a generic language heading template so that we don’t need separate language headings
- I’m really not sure which of these would be easier. ☸ Moilleadóir 08:22, 4 Feabhra 2008 (UTC)
